Today's Verse

What is Christian Counseling?

Christian counseling presents Jesus Christ as the ultimate solution to all of life's difficulties. Therefore, Christian therapy is not based on man-made theories of human personality, but on God's revealed truth as set forth in His Word, "all scripture is inspired by God and is profitable, for teaching rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God my be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16, 17)

Lasting behavioral change occurs when the counselee responds to the principles found in God's word. The means of mending man's physical, social, intellectual, and psychological needs are found in the Bible. To the Christian Counselor, the word of God is the primary handbook. This is not to say that the counseling session will be a "sermon" from the Counselor, but that the counsel given comes from the word of God.

A Christian counselor has a passion and love for people and an eagerness to communicate the principles of God's word that apply to each situation and need. As people look to the Lord for answers and begin to make changes in their lifestyles and thought patterns by lining them up with the word of God, studies have shown that these efforts result in success. A renewed strength is found when the counselee looks beyond himself and turns to the Lord for answers.

The Counseling Session
The counseling services of this center are available to all people, regardless of race, color, or creed. The counselee, however, must understand that all counseling will be based on the scripture. Effective therapy requires that the counselee accept the Bible as God's word. This is the basic premise of the personal, marriage, and family counseling done at the center.

A counseling session normally lasts about 60 minutes. To make an appointment, call 712-792-3876 or 712-792-0138. Counseling sessions can be made for various times throughout the week, and in special cases, on the weekend as well. Individuals seeking counseling will be asked to complete a Personal Data Inventory, which is kept confidential, as is all information shared in the counseling session.

Fees

The cost per session is $25. Payment arrangements are available if needed.
